Executive Function Coaching
What is EF coaching?
Executive function (EF) refers to a set of cognitive skills that are essential for goal-directed behavior and decision-making. These skills are often impaired for adults with ADHD and are responsible for managing tasks like:
Time management: Prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
Organization: Maintaining structure in your work and workspace.
Focus and attention: Staying on task and avoiding distractions.
Problem-solving: Finding solutions when faced with challenges.
Emotional regulation: Managing stress and maintaining a calm, clear mind under pressure.
What does EF coaching look like?
Executive function coaching is a personalized approach that helps you identify and strengthen areas of cognitive challenge, while building the tools and strategies to achieve your goals.
Coaching sessions typically include:
Assessment: Understanding your current strengths and areas for growth. This might include questionnaires or a conversation to identify where you struggle most (e.g., time management, prioritization, task initiation).
Personalized Strategies: Tailored techniques to improve specific executive functions, such as developing better time-management systems, creating efficient workspaces, or learning decision-making frameworks.
Accountability: Regular check-ins to track progress, celebrate wins, and adjust strategies as needed.
Skill Development: Ongoing exercises and tools that reinforce key skills, from setting goals to staying motivated and focused under pressure.
Coaching sessions provide a focused approach to developing skills/strategies without the commitment of regular therapy.
